Arriving at Hopewell Rocks, you'll have free time to explore the park, timed where possible around the day's tide schedule to see the formations at their most dramatic. These towering flowerpot-shaped sea stacks have been sculpted over thousands of years by the Bay of Fundy's extraordinary tides, which rise and fall by as much as 16 metres. Wander the boardwalks and lookout points for your first views of the rust-red cliffs and stacks rising from the forest above the tidal flats below.

Ocean floor walk or clifftop trail

With lunch on your own beforehand, the day's highlight follows: an optional walk across the ocean floor at low tide, weaving between the towering rock pillars from ground level, or, if the tide is high, the scenic clifftop trail overlooking the flooded bay instead. Either way, you'll witness one of the most dramatic tidal transformations in the world, where the very ground you might walk on in the morning disappears beneath several metres of seawater just hours later, showcasing nature's raw power firsthand.

Return to Halifax

As the afternoon draws on, your coach departs Hopewell Rocks and heads back east into Nova Scotia toward Halifax. Take this time to relax and look back over photos of the towering flowerpot rocks and the tide's dramatic rise and fall, a phenomenon found nowhere else on Earth at this scale. Your guide may share further stories about the Bay of Fundy's ecosystem and its importance to migratory shorebirds during the drive back through the New Brunswick countryside.
