Arrive in Toronto and spend the evening at your own pace — the Distillery District's Victorian-era brick lanes, now filled with galleries and cafes, are an easy walk from most downtown hotels and a relaxed way to start the trip.

Day 2

Toronto → Muskoka

Head north to Muskoka, Ontario's best-known cottage country, arriving in Gravenhurst on the shores of Lake Muskoka. Spend the afternoon out on the water among the region's granite-shored lakes, a landscape that has drawn Toronto's summer crowds for well over a century.

Day 3

Muskoka → Algonquin Provincial Park

Continue north and east to Algonquin Provincial Park, one of Canada's oldest and most iconic protected areas, its lakes and pines the subject of some of the Group of Seven's best-known paintings. Spend the day on the water or the trails, depending on season, taking in a wilderness landscape unlike the cities earlier in the trip.

Algonquin → Ottawa

Day 5

Ottawa → Kingston → Thousand Islands

Head south to Kingston, a former capital of the united Province of Canada on Lake Ontario, then cruise the Thousand Islands from nearby Gananoque, weaving between hundreds of granite islands scattered across the St. Lawrence River.

Kingston → Toronto departure
