East Coast Explorer
Toronto, Niagara Falls, Ottawa, and Quebec City along the St. Lawrence — Canada's historic east.
View itinerary →Your journey begins with a drive from Halifax through New Brunswick and across the Confederation Bridge, a 12.9-kilometre engineering marvel spanning the Northumberland Strait to Prince Edward Island. Arriving in Charlottetown, the birthplace of Canadian Confederation in 1864, you'll spend the afternoon and evening exploring its historic waterfront district, lined with colonial architecture, boutique shops, and seafood restaurants. This compact, walkable capital sets a relaxed island tone, with red-sand beaches and rolling green farmland waiting to be explored the following day.

Cavendish, PEYour second morning takes you to Cavendish, home to Green Gables Heritage Place, the farmhouse and grounds that inspired Lucy Maud Montgomery's beloved novel Anne of Green Gables. Wander the same lane and gardens that shaped the fictional Anne Shirley's world, then head to Cavendish's iconic red-sand beaches, where iron-rich soil gives the coastline its distinctive rust hue. After breakfast and this literary and coastal morning, your coach begins the return drive to Halifax, closing out a memorable island escape.

No, it's optional — the surrounding trails and farmhouse grounds are the main draw and worth the small admission fee.
It's the same island, but this route gives Charlottetown and Cavendish a full overnight rather than the single day the multi-day Maritimes loop allows.
About 3.5 hours each way, including the Confederation Bridge crossing.
