Whale-watching boat tour

Board a guided boat tour (optional add-on) out onto the Salish Sea, one of the richest marine ecosystems on the Pacific coast, in search of resident and transient orcas, humpback whales, and playful sea lions. Over roughly three hours, experienced naturalist guides share insight into the region's marine life and conservation as the boat cruises past rocky islets and open water in search of a close encounter with these giants.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a whale sighting guaranteed?

No sighting can be guaranteed, but the Salish Sea has strong seasonal success rates from spring through fall, and most operators offer another trip if none are seen.

What if the weather is rough?

Tours run in most conditions on covered, heated boats, though departures can occasionally be rescheduled for safety.

How is this different from the whale-watching add-on in Tofino?

This tour is on the calmer, inside waters of the Salish Sea near Victoria, with a different mix of species and season than Tofino's open-Pacific whale-watching.
