Itinerary

Day 1

Calgary Airport (YYC) → Waterton townsite

Head south from Calgary Airport (YYC) toward Waterton Lakes National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and International Peace Park where the prairies collide dramatically with the Rocky Mountains. Arrive with time to tackle the popular Bear's Hump lookout trail, a steep but short climb rewarded with sweeping views over Upper Waterton Lake and the surrounding peaks, before settling into the small, walkable townsite. Breakfast is on your own before departure, with an overnight stay in Waterton to follow.

Day 2

Red Rock Canyon & Cameron Lake → return

Spend the morning exploring two of Waterton's most striking landscapes: Red Rock Canyon, where oxidized argillite rock glows a deep rust-red beneath a shallow, clear-running creek, and Cameron Lake, a glacially fed alpine lake cradled by steep peaks straddling the Canada-U.S. border. With breakfast included, take in the crisp mountain air and photo-worthy scenery before beginning the drive back north, arriving at Calgary Airport (YYC) in the afternoon to close out this two-day escape to Waterton Lakes.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from the Banff & Lake Louise route?

Waterton is a separate national park south of Calgary, noticeably quieter than Banff — a good second Rockies trip rather than a first one.

Is one night enough?

Yes — this route is built around a short, focused visit. Let us know if you'd like to extend it.

Do we need a Parks Canada pass?

Yes, a day pass is required to enter Waterton Lakes National Park and isn't included in the tour price.
